Basic Features
As an intermediate Paint in alkyd rust preventative systems, it is used on marine surfaces or in slightly to moderately corrosive environments.
Easy to apply
Excellent fast-drying properties,
Requiring minimal substrate surface preparation,
Good corrosion protection.
Recommended Uses
Used as a primer for aluminum and steel structures in suitable alkyd Coating systems. Dry temperature resistant up to 120°C.
Surface Preparation
Cleaning: Abrasive blast to Sa 2 1/2 (ISO 8501-1:1988).
Roughness: Fine to medium using a suitable angular grit (G).
Other Surfaces
For aluminum and galvanized surfaces, degrease and lightly sand or brush sand. For stainless steel, lightly sand or brush sand with a chloride-free, non-metallic abrasive.
Application Conditions
The substrate temperature should be at least 3°C above the air dew point. Temperature and relative humidity should be measured near the substrate. Good ventilation is generally required in confined areas to ensure proper drying.
Product Compatibility
Primer: Red lead alkyd primer
Subsequent Paint: Alkyd Midcoat
Topcoat: Alkyd Topcoat
Storage
Must be stored in accordance with national regulations. The recommended storage temperature is 15-25°C. The storage environment should be dry, cool, well-ventilated, and away from heat and ignition sources. The container must be kept tightly closed. At 25°C, the product has a shelf life of at least 12 months.
